MasterQuiz make a difference?
If you use it wisely it can bring you up several notches.
You can not be any smarter than what MasterQuiz can teach. The rest is
coaching skills, moral, attitude, confidence and team work. Make sure you
know every pre-interupt and can blast 90% of the cards.
Do you tell
your secret strategies?
I give basic suggestions to those who ask and on occasion
will help a team prepare for nationals. It is fun to see underdog teams do well.
Once I helped a boy become top quizzer at state, regionals and in the top ten at
nationals even though he was from a small church. I also give JBQ seminars
on advanced strategies, coaching methods, and high retention learning methods.
I have up to a 13 hour seminar with coaches, quizzers, and parents. Most
of it activity related not just sitting there getting writers cramp and calluses
near the back pockets of your jeans.
How
many other teams use MasterQuiz?
MasterQuiz has been out since 1981. Most top teams have
used it for years. Until this last change of cards many teams have used it
for 18 – 20 years. The last few years GPH did not allow me sell it and I
was not allowed to present it at regionals and nationals. The quizzer
portion is now approved by GPH and can be sold again.
No. Do not make any copies of MasterQuiz for quizzers,
coaches, friends, etc. and do not install MasterQuiz on other computers than
your own. If you have a computer lab, and need special pricing then call
me. If you have a computer in your office and at home or multiple
computers in your home then you may install MasterQuiz to each.
How
do I know if I have the latest version?
MasterQuiz has a date on the CD and when you run MasterQuiz
the version number is in a message box. Compare that to the version update
on the website JuniorBibleQuiz.com and then follow the instructions. You should update the main
program twice a year.
Would
you customize MasterQuiz for my state?
Sometimes. I look at all ideas and see how much work it would
be to add that request.
I do but am not allowed to sell it since GPH made their own
CD. It has about three times the power and capabilities of the GPH CD.
I hope that they will someday let me make a print version that adds features that theirs is
missing.
How
long does it take to get a patch if I find a bug?
I email the fix to whoever reports it as soon as they make me
aware of it and it is then downloadable from my website for everyone.
(Normally 24 hours.)
Can
MasterQuiz cause my computer to crash?
All programs can crash if there is an unstable Windows environment. MasterQuiz is very generic and stays within Microsoft standards. It is best to uninstall and reinstall any new game or graphic software that you may have added first. Almost 90 percent of the calls I receive concerning a MasterQuiz crash turn out to be the users computer. Most of the time we can still solve the problem. I do not mind helping even if it turns out not to be a MasterQuiz problem. I am usually relieved. Occasionally I have seen a CD-ROM or DVD that has had trouble reading an older MasterQuiz CD with scratches. Call me and I will tell you how to install the voice file onto your hard drive.
Do
you have a blind version or something for special needs?
I have made special needs versions since 1985 when I worked
at the Deaf and also the Braille schools of MN. Call and let me know what
you need and I may tackle it for you. There have been ways for a parent to
set
the settings and then the quizzer can press F1 to go directly to the talking
screen and quiz. My sister and I were probably the first to have
signed quizzing in our deaf churches and deaf camps. I have deaf and blind
in my family including an uncle who is both blind and deaf.
I have an
idea. What should I do?
Call me and let me know. I may want to add it to the program.
If you have programmed a game or feature and would like to add it, I would
discuss with you how to do that. For example there are music CD’s that
also work in MasterQuiz. When you buy the CD from the author you also
receive a password that will turn it on in MasterQuiz. On questions that
have music you will see a learn button. Click on it and you will hear the
song for that question and can sing along. I especially like ideas for
learning a memory verse or list.
I can not get
the sound to work.
The programming language I use for MasterQuiz is very generic
and does not change your sound card information. Use your explorer and
click on any wave file and then on a MasterQuiz wave file to see if your sound
card is working properly. Right click in MasterQuiz away from a text box
and check the sound settings and make sure they are on. Does your computer
make the Windows welcome ding? I am glad to help and have fixed many
peoples computers on the phone.
Can
I have MasterQuiz not read the answers out loud?
Yes. Right click in MasterQuiz away from a text box and check
the sound settings to shut off certain options. Skilled quizzers do not
need to waste this amount of time.
Can
I get a reduced price since we are a home missions church?
Call me and convince me that you have a need. Often I
give missionaries and people in unusual or poor settings or schools or churches
with computer labs a break.
I only speak English and do sign language. If you would
like to make the wave files in another language I would be glad to add it to the
program. Call me for shortcuts and details. If you want to
make a video with sign language, I can easily turn this into a DVD that works
with MasterQuiz.
Have you taken
kids to nationals?
Yes we were 6th in our region and 6th in nationals that year. I have had several strong teams that should have gone but things happened such as my best quizzer moving to another state the week before state tournaments. We still placed third but only the top two teams could advance at that time. I have also long distance advised teams or individuals who ended up doing very well.
Can 4 year
olds use MasterQuiz?
Yes! One year there were four different kids who were four years old that I knew of who were using MasterQuiz on a regular basis.
